At the end of October, a software update of the Zcash cryptocurrency network took place. The developers implemented new transaction-processing algorithms, which made it possible to significantly increase their speed and security. However, according to statements by analysts of the BL Blockspur service, which tracks the activity of users of the Zcash and Zcash Classic platforms, the update that took place was unable to substantially increase its throughput. The activity of ecosystem users over the last 30 days did not increase substantially, but remained at almost the same level. In addition, it was previously reported that activity in the Zcash network is much lower than on the platforms of many other cryptocurrencies, such as Litecoin, Monero and Ripple. However, the Zcash developers hold a different opinion. At the beginning of the week they published a post on Twitter, in which they stated that the performance of the digital currency's network had grown significantly over the past month after the successful update of the project's software.
A representative of the Zcash team, Paige Peterson, emphasized: An increase in the number of shielded (hidden) addresses signals an improvement in the performance of the Zcash blockchain. The team is constantly working to improve the throughput of the project's network. According to the developers, they managed to create a blockchain network that ensures maximum anonymity of any transactions using shielded addresses. Unlike the Bitcoin network, no third-party users of the Zcash ecosystem will be able to view information about such transactions. The anonymous nature of transactions in the Zcash network raises concern among the authorities of many countries, since criminal structures often use such platforms for their operations. The US authorities, in the person of the Department of Homeland Security, want to develop a system for monitoring transactions in the network of the anonymous cryptocurrencies Zcash and Monero to identify suspicious operations.
